The following is an official statement by the King of Sardinia to all world leaders regarding a recent security incident in Sardinia.
2018-07-19_01.34.44_1531995978.png

Your Majesty the King of Aquitaine, fellow members of the Federation, members of the Royal Court, citizens of Sardinia and the world:

The Kingdom of Sardinia has been struck by a security breach like no other seen in our short history. A man by the name of Guardedcharlie took advantage of our good will, and shortly after joining Sardinia and promising to produce buildings and goods for it, made off with Prince 8bitRobot's ship along with large amounts of goods from our public granary and armory. Exploiting a power he should not have had, he also stole $1,490 from the town bank. Following his initial flight, Guardedcharlie returned to Sardinia and attempted to steal HRH 8bitRobot's submarine. Seeing that he had no intention of returning the property and was likely to cause further damage, he was kicked out of the town. Once our initial manhunt ended with Guardedcharlie being killed in the Royal Palace, he returned to southern Florida and established the settlement "Pirates" using stolen Sardinian money.

We believe that Guardedcharlie has violated server rule #2 by "using an exploit" of withdrawing town money, which upon numerous requests he has refused to return. This command should have been and should be made the sole privilege of town mayors, in addition to other commands such as /t toggle pvp, which he apparently had access to. Furthermore, this incident shines a light on shortcomings of the brief server rules, which should be amended to forbid stealing from one's own town. Though perhaps a minor offense, it could also be said that Guardedcharlie "went overboard" with his profanity during his insults of the server staff (calling them lazy for having a basic rule set) and Sardinian citizens (calling 8bit's ship a "piece of sh*t") and several other rude comments, only some of which have been recorded.

The Kingdom of Sardinia is asking for UN (i.e. staff) cooperation in returning the stolen money and preventing a similar incident from happening to anyone again, as well as delivering the appropriate justice upon the culprit. We also urge all world citizens to avoid contact and trade with Guardedcharlie, for their own safety and to avoid enabling him to wreak further havoc upon the world.

Guardedcharlie has been charged under Sardinian law and has been convicted of the following offenses:

1. Disobeying the monarch: Guardedcharlie refused the King's repeated orders to return the stolen vessel and money.
2. Theft: The culprit stole $1490 from the town bank, a ship, a submarine, a large quantity of crops from the public granary, and a large amount of valuables including armor, weapons, and other treasures from both the public armory and the King's residence.
3. Lying to Royal Authorities: Charlie repeatedly lied about his intentions, claiming that he would colonize the Balearic Islands on behalf of Sardinia, that he would sail to Somalia and dig the Suez Canal, and that he was in the process of returning the stolen ship and goods, when in fact he was establishing a hideout in southern Florida.
4. Disrespecting a Royal: Charles made insulting remarks to the Prince of Tunis and eventually to the King, using foul language. He also displayed poor manners by tampering with royal possessions, prancing on top of the royal dinner table, and failing to show gratitude for the King's gifts of food, tools, and armor.
5. Property Damage: Charles twice crashed Prince 8bit's ship into the docks in Caralis, at one time damaging the dock and leaving it unrepaired. He also tore down armor stands in the palace and armory, stealing the contents.

Guardedcharlie has been sentenced to death and permanent banishment from Sardinian territories. I will be requesting my allies in the Federation to in turn banish and persecute him to the fullest extent of the law, as he has committed crimes on Federal land and insulted the nation of Aquitaine.

Fortunately, Sardinian authorities were able to track down His Royal Highness's ship, and after many hard days at sea, it is back safe in the port of Caralis with most, if not all, of the stolen goods on board. Guardedcharlie still has $1,195 in his personal account and as far as we know, he has made none of it himself other than the $100 he had upon joining on July 18. He has spent at least $350 on his town of "Pirates", at least $250 of which has come directly from Sardinian coffers.

This incident has taught us many valuable lessons. Sardinia will be updating its immigration policy and advising fellow Federation members to do the same. It will implement new security measures on vehicles. The Sardinian military will be equipped with better weapons and transportation systems to pursue fugitives more effectively. Domestic law enforcement will be enhanced. For the time being, the Strait of Gibraltar will be closed to all ship traffic, unless individuals are granted permission to pass.

The events of July 18-19 demonstrated the nature of our country's benevolent government, which showed compassion in quickly sheltering and provisioning Guardedcharlie, and then giving him several chances to right his wrongdoings and peacefully return what he had stolen. It is regrettable that we were not able to forge a positive relationship with Charles, who appeared to have several talents that would have earned him great esteem in our kingdom. Although we can never accept him back into our realm, it is our sincere hope that he learn to live in peace with himself and others, and that he should one day realize the value of conducting himself in a respectful manner.

This man's crimes have not shaken Sardinia, but have only proven the resilient nature of our people. We pursued the criminal relentlessly, killed him, and recovered easily from the material loss. We will continue to build our civilization from the ground up at full speed, with new projects being completed each day such as the large-scale farms in Turin and the tavern in Caralis. No threat will even stop us from celebration, such as that which will come with the investiture of the Queen of Sardinia and other dignitaries in the coming weeks. The Sardinian military has once again done an impeccable job at safeguarding our homeland, and now has the critical task of securing the waters of the Mediterranean and Atlantic from scoundrels similar to Charlie. While it is our Kingdom's hope to live in peace with our neighbors across the world, we will never be afraid of war. We shall travel along the path of Pax et Vis: Peace and Power, ensuring the stability and prosperity of our people and all our dear neighbors in the European hemisphere.

Vivant Regnum Populusque Sardiniae!
Long live the People and Kingdom of Sardinia!

Mortem proditoribus piratisque!
Death to traitors and pirates!

Ave Rex Aquitaniae!
Hail to the King of Aquitaine!

Diutissime regat!
Long may he reign!

Rex Vespasianus Marcus Cassianus Sardiniae
Caralis, Sardinia

As a rising power in the Americas, New Managua hereby voices its support in the fight against this trecharous criminal. Should the nation of Aquitaine decide on military action against said foe, we would quite like to be involved in the process. We do not, however, condone imperial action by the nation of Aquitaine. For this reason, any military action on the Western hemisphere that occurs without the knowledge of New Managua will be frowned upon.

I should also use this opportune moment to demand the reopening of the Strait of Gibraltar. The rights of free travel and trade should not be violated due only to the actions of one man. If you must, close your ports, but do not end free trade on the Southern half of the European continent. Thank you for your time.

Sir GA1109:

Thank you for your support and interest in this situation, which has now spread to the Americas. To clarify the issue of the Strait of Gibraltar, neither free travel nor trade has been stopped by the aforementioned closing. People are still free to take small boats across the strait, while larger ships will be permitted if they provide advance notice to the Sardinian government and receive approval. If a ship cannot fit, it can dock outside Gibraltar while its crew travels over land or transfers to a different vessel in the Mediterranean Sea. Since the Strait is under Sardinian territorial control, it is entirely up to the discretion of the Sardinian government to decide which ships or boats are permitted through at any time. The main purpose of the latest decision was a security measure to prevent another hijacking of a Sardinian vessel from escaping the Mediterranean. If you are interested in trade in southern Europe, and we hope you are, feel free to contact the Sardinian or Proven├žal governments at any time and they will gladly assist you in your transit. Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,

UN action will be issued and the return of the money stolen will be guaranteed. Threats like this do not go unoticed and action will be taken. Said action is still under thought, but will have an answer before the end of the day.

The shallow-ness of the rules was meant as a temporary measure and were to be updated when events like this occur and said events will be reflected in new rules.

Unless proof is given for the chat, not action will be taken there.

If anything else is needed that I have missed, just respond to me.
